Fukushima Daiichi Decommissioning

In decommissioning the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, which has experienced a severe accident, it is essential not only to combine existing technologies but also to develop innovative technologies or to elucidate the principles of phenomena, etc., which will require advanced challenges in a wide range of academic fields. In this research division, the TEPCO, which is the main executor of decommissioning, and Tohoku University, which is a hometown university, collaborate to effectively contribute to the development of new technologies required for the promotion of decommissioning, as well as to the development of human resources in the relevant fields.
